Dear Neighbor,

Like so many of you, I love this neighborhood. It’s my home. Robb and I have lived in Lake Highlands for almost 40 years -raised our three children here – all of them graduating from Lake Highlands High School. Years ago, I had the privilege of serving as PTA president for White Rock Elementary, Lake Highlands Junior High and Lake Highlands High School. I also served as president of the White Rock Valley Neighborhood Association and am a sustaining member of Lake Highlands Women’s League.

In 2014, I became the Executive Director of the Lake Highlands Public Improvement District (“PID”). I had served on the Board of Directors for two years and absolutely fell in love with the work of a PID. I could now take the years of listening to the concerns of the community and my advocacy skills and translate that into action. My job was to use the assessments from the property owners to provide supplemental services in the following areas: public safety, capital improvements, and community engagement. I was the steward of the property owner’s assessments.

Through these leadership experiences, I learned how to serve the community. Specifically, I learned to listen. Whether standing in school libraries, cafeterias, or parking lots, I learned the importance of listening to concerns of the community about our schools, families, and neighborhood.

As you are aware, Councilmember McGough is unable to run again. He is term-limited. I am running to represent District 10 on the City Council.

I strongly believe that I am the candidate most prepared for the job of District 10 Councilmember. I know this District well and I have the experience with successful strategies, knowledge of resources and the ability to manage and follow through on projects and initiatives to successful completion.

I plan to walk our neighborhoods, hold coffees, and attend many community events so I can meet you and listen to your concerns. I ask for your support and your vote.
